Lazio's Historic Houses: the 2026 call is now open!
Public notice for the valorisation of historic houses, villas, architectural and landscape complexes, parks and gardens of historical, artistic and landscape value - 2026 edition
WHO IT IS FOR
Owners and managers (both public and private entities) of historic houses, villas, architectural and landscape complexes, parks and gardens listed in the Lazio Regional Network of Historic Houses (Rete regionale delle Dimore Storiche del Lazio, list approved by Determination no. G03239 of 11/03/2026).
In the case of joint ownership, the application may be submitted by one or more co-owners with the formal consent of the others. Managers may apply with the explicit authorisation of the owner, attaching a certified copy of the management agreement.
The property must already be open to visitors — even only partially or by appointment — or be the subject of a project enabling immediate public access.
WHAT IT FUNDS
- – Ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works (renewal of structural elements, finishes, building systems, sanitary and technological facilities serving public visits);
- – Restoration and conservative rehabilitation works;
- – Restoration of movable cultural assets and decorated surfaces (paintings, sculptures, frescoes);
- – Works to improve accessibility and usability: ramps, lifting platforms, tactile and braille routes, safety upgrades, video surveillance, visitor services;
- – Landscaping and green space works in historic gardens and parks;
- – Valorisation, communication and promotion costs (up to 5% of total project cost).
ELIGIBLE COSTS
Execution of works, publication of tender notices, connections to public utilities, upgrading and regulatory compliance of building systems, obtaining permits and opinions, surety bonds, contingencies, and VAT where non-recoverable.
Subject to the following limits:
- – Technical design and consultancy fees: max 10% of total project cost;
- – Furnishings and equipment: max 50% of total costs;
- – Communication and promotion: max 5% of total project cost.
Costs must be benchmarked against the regional price lists in force.
BENEFITS
Grant of up to € 50,000.00 per project, structured as follows:
- – Private entities → up to 50% of total eligible cost;
- – Public entities → up to 70% of total eligible cost;
- – Municipalities with up to 15,000 inhabitants or in financial distress → 100%, with no co-financing required.
State aid framework: Art. 53 of Reg. (EU) 651/2014 or de minimis (Reg. EU 2831/2023, max € 300,000 over three financial years). Double funding of the same costs is not permitted.
HOW TO APPLY AND DEADLINES
Each applicant may submit only one project proposal, and for only one property listed in the Network.
Applications must be submitted exclusively through the online platform: https://bandiavvisi.regione.lazio.it — using second-level authentication (SPID, CIE, TS-CNS) and a digital signature.
- Opening: from 12:00 noon on 10 September 2026;
- Deadline: by 4:00 p.m. on 8 October 2026 (strict deadline).
Required supporting documents include: the act approving the project, a Technical and Economic Feasibility Project or Detailed Design (explanatory report, drawings showing existing and proposed conditions, photographic documentation, project timeline), a detailed Financial Framework (Quadro Economico), the declaration of cultural interest, proof of ownership, a project sustainability report, and details of how and when the property will be open to the public.
ASSESSMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION TIMEFRAME
Projects are assessed by a Regional Commission against 11 criteria (cultural value of the property, significance of the intervention, level of design development, quality of the documentation, financial framework, public accessibility, sustainability, co-financing, innovation and energy efficiency, accessibility for people with disabilities).
Minimum qualifying score: 70/100 points.
Successful projects must be completed over the two-year period 2027–2028, and the property must remain open to the public for at least 10 years from the final disbursement of the grant.
